Mendes is aiming for that third quarter release.
Ladies and gents, you can add Shawn Mendes to your list of anticipated releases for 2016.
After incessantly pushing "Stitches" into our membranes, we finally gave in and applauded the 17-year-old for his continuing hustle. That drive led to a full-blown European leg as part of his current tour and a Stateside portion later this year. On Monday (April 25), Team Mendes was happy to learn that the budding pop star will drop new music to coincide with the forthcoming tour dates.
Speaking with Oslo radio station NRK MP3, Mendes revealed that the follow-up to 2015's Handwritten will see light later this fall. "After we finish [touring] in Europe, we're going to head to America to do the big American tour, and then release a new single and then an album in September," he confessed to the station.
Mendes' current stage set features his Camila Cabello duet, "I Know What You Did Last Summer," as well as his new songs "Ruin," "Three Empty Words" and "Like This," which he premiered at his New York City show back in March.
Earlier today, Billboard announced that the barely legal teen will be amongst the performers at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, so we should also be fully prepared for a performance of one of those cuts, right? Keep your eyes peeled when the ceremony airs on May 22 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
