Say what, Diplo!?
As time goes on, it’s only becoming more and more apparent that Diplo has one hell of a mouth. After stirring the pot with Taylor Swift, the EDM heavyweight has now weighed in on his beef with Zedd, proclaiming that the DJ’s relationship with Selena Gomez is one big manufactured PR stunt.
Despite insisting that he and Zedd are actually pretty cool with each other (even though he compared True Colors to the poop emoji a few weeks back), Diplo shared a little more of his opinion about Zedd during an interview with Radio.com.
I’m actually not enemies with Zedd by any means. I just hate think that he came from such a cool place, and now he’s been pegged as a money-maker for a major label to do EDM, which to me isn’t even a genre. But they’ve pegged him for that. They’ve marketing him, even the fake relationship with Selena Gomez, all the things to sell records took away from the music.
Even though there’s somewhat good intention behind his remarks, you can’t help but feel a sorta backhanded vibe when it comes to his feelings about Zedd. Dip continued to spill his two cents about the DJ, telling the outlet that he was disappointed with the producer’s latest body of work because it didn’t meet “the weirdest shit” level that he and partner in crime Skrillex (AKA Jack Ü) produced.
“He’s got a really loud space right now in this culture. There are a lot of people paying attention to him,” he boasted about Zedd. “He can do this awesome music, and to just come out with something so flat and expected and easy for people … you only live once, you know what I’m saying?”
Diplo has a few years under his belt to know what to say and not to say to the press, so all we can really garner from this interview is some major passive aggressive BS. No response from Zedd, but it appears as if Diplo wants to backtrack yet again. Just take a look at the tweet he posted on Friday (June 5).
Imma take he 5th on Zedd he's dope af go listen to his album and give it a chance don't try and make a story out of it. Everyone have fun
