Sam Smith’s New Music Is Coming “Very Very Very Very Soon”

Will Sam Smith's new single debut tonight?

The Grammy Award winning artist has been teasing a comeback on social media for a minute now, and it appears we're we won't have to wait much longer. Smith launched an email blast on Wednesday and confirmed that "something" is coming in the very near future.

“First of all I want to say thank you. Thank you for being so patient and for letting me have the past year to really escape into my mind & write music so freely,” Smith writes. “I feel so rejuvenated and have so many stories I can’t wait to tell you.”

He continues, “I have missed you all desperately, and a day hasn’t gone by when I haven’t been looking at all you comments and dreaming of singing with you all again.”

Then the “Money On My Mind” singer drops the bomb: “The wait is so nearly over,” he says. “Something is coming very very very very soon. I am scared & excited at the same time. I’ve poured my soul & heart into this record.”

Smith didn’t confirm a timeline, but “soon” in 2017 usually means within days.

Here's what we know:

The new single could be a collaboration with Timbaland. The two linked up in the recording studio together back in April. "It was a pleasure working this man," Tim wrote on Instagram.

Or perhaps a collaboration with Jimmy Napes (the producer-songwriter behind Smith’s “Lay Me Down” and “Stay With Me”) – the two recorded together this year.

Sam's also rumored to have a song with electronic-pop trio Clean Bandit. Earlier this year, the Daily Star reported Sam always wanted to collab, but nothing came of it because the group's former violinist, Neil Milan (who left the band last year), mocked Sam's James Bond 'Spectre' theme "Writing's On The Wall." They report Neil said that the song was "just a flaccid copy of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller.'" Now that he's gone, it has "opened the door again."

Stay tuned, soul lovers.
