Sam Smith Wins Best Original Song At The Oscars

Congratulations are in order for Sam Smith.

After performing the hit earlier in the night, Smith won the award for Best Original Song at the 2016 Oscars for his song “Writing’s On The Wall” from 2015’s James Bond film Spectre beating out The Weeknd’s “Earned It” and Lady Gaga’s “Til It Happens To You.”

Smith says he’s the first openly gay man to win an Oscar, but Elton John won one for the song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from The Lion King. Smith dedicated his award to the LGBT community. Watch below:
