Ellie Goulding to sing the next James Bond theme song.
Rumor had it Sam Smith was the next super star British singer to sing the upcoming James Bond movie theme, but in his new interview on the Capital FM Breakfast Show, Smith confirmed it’s a no-go. In fact, he honestly had no idea why people thought that to begin with. Smith said he heard Ellie Goulding will land the coveted role, who would join the likes of Adele, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney and Madonna.
DB: Dave Berry
LS: Lisa Snowdon
SS: Sam Smith
DB – ‘Sam Smith, what is going on with the Bond theme? Please give us all an exclusive.’
SS – ‘I actually have no idea. People seem to think I’m doing it but I have absolutely no idea what’s going on.’
DB – ‘Samuel Smith.’
SS – ‘I’m being deadly serious!”
LS – ‘Do you think you would have recorded it by now if you were actually doing it?’
SS – ‘I really think I would know by now! I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, I heard loads of different things.’
DB – ‘Oh really? ‘
SS – ‘Yeah, it’s definitely not me.’
LS – ‘Oh, we were rooting for you.’
SS – ‘I know. I’d love to do it. I’d love to do it.’
LS – ‘Maybe next year, or the year after.’
DB – ‘You’d wanna do a Daniel Craig one really wouldn’t you, ideally?’
SS – ‘I don’t know. I’d just love to do it but it’d be a dream to do, wouldn’t it?”
While we imagine Goulding could craft an intelligent ditty for the super spy franchise, Sam Smith just sounded ideal. Guess it was too good to be true, eh?
