Sam Smith Premieres Bond Theme Song

Shaken, not stirred.

That’s probably how Sam Smith’s hoping you’ll feel after you listen to his brand new track, Writing’s On The Wall’, the official song representing the latest film in the iconic James Bond franchise – Spectre.

Smith stopped by Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 show to premiere ‘Writings On The Wall’ then took to Twitter to share his excitement with fans:

Bond themes are well known for being sultry, elaborate affairs, not unlike the films they soundtrack. Writing’s On The Wall – the 24th Bond theme – is no exception, combining Smith’s incomparable falsetto with an epic orchestral instrumental.

Sam spoke to NPR about the inspiration he had while writing the song:

“I tried to put myself in the shoes of Bond. My music is a diary and it’s a recap of my life, and I wanted to bring that kind of honesty. In the lyrics … I wanted a touch of vulnerability from Bond, where you see into his heart a little bit.”

Spectre opens in cinemas from 26 October.
