Are we in the clear yet? Good.
Ryan Adams wasn't kidding when he said he's covering Taylor Swift's entire "1989" record. He kicked it off with his rock rendition of "Welcome To New York" to Swift's approval. She Tweeted Adams after his initial premiere, "Is this true??????? I WILL PASS OUT. Cool I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight or ever again and I'm going to celebrate today every year as a holiday. I'M CALM."
It's true, Taylor. Remain calm.
Come Thursday, Adams posted clips of two more songs - "Out of the Woods" and "All You Had To Do Was Stay." He posted the above photo on Instagram as well, saying "Ready for night two. Stoked to dig in to these jams. So much going on in those songs. Truly a badass, thru & thru. XO."
We're a bit shocked Swift is so open to the idea of someone else covering her entire album. She's famous for wanting complete control over her "1989" catalogue - barring it from appearing on Spotify and momentarily on Apple Music - so to see her applauding Adams efforts to re-create her entire hit record is a pleasant surprise. Then again, imitation is the best form of flattery, and we know Swift loves her some of that.
