Rumor: Katy Perry Set To Receive The Video Vanguard Award

Katy Perry might kick off her much anticipated comeback with a high profile appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Katy Kats have a lot to look forward to in the next year. Their fav is crafting her next studio album (a bit of it might have already trickled onto the Internet no thanks to a pesky hacker who hijacked Perry's official Twitter account with 89 million followers and leaked a song titled "Witness") and it may get a very public liftoff if Perry receives MTV's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the VMA's come August 28.

Are Katy Perry And Rihanna Teaming Up For A New Song Together?

The rumor began circulating Perry's fan communities over the weekend.

The prestigious award is presented to musicians who have made a profound effect on the MTV culture and honors their body of work. Past recipients of the Vanguard Award include Michael and Janet Jackson, U2, David Bowie, Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and most recently Kanye West.

The news follows Perry's admission she's working on a new album and “touring in 2017.”
