Take this with a grain of salt. There are whispers that South Korean popstar CL will take Fergie's spot in the Black Eyed Peas. Korean television reporter, Ye-Na Kim, added fuel to the fire when he reportedly elaborated on the rumors. Koreaboo.com has the full report and translated it into English. It doesn't offer any confirmation.
If it's true, this could work. CL is hugely talented and has released a couple of bangers to prove it. "Hello Bitches" is still a seriously colossal song. Same with "Doctor Pepper." She's also collaborated with will.i.am on #willpower track "Gettin' Dumb."
At one point, it appeared Fergie was bowing out of the Black Eyed peas when she left Interscope and launched her own label, Dutchess Music, an imprint of BMG, but Will confirmed Fergie was not kicked out. Rather, she and the Peas are focused on separate endeavors.
"Nobody is replacing Fergie,” he said last month. “She’s working on her solo project at the moment, we’re on this brand-new experience, celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas putting out music. We worked on a bunch of songs on her solo record, we’re proud that she has her label, but Black Eyed Peas are pushing it forward in terms of content, technology and experiences on our new project, Masters of the Sun."
