Rihanna Sets A Record For Having The Most Nominations Without A Win At The Grammys

No wonder Rihanna was sneaking shots at the Grammys.

If you thought the Recording Academy's Beyonce/Album Of The Year snub was unjust, then their lack of recognition for both Rihanna and Kanye West is downright illegal.

Both artists received a whopping eight nominations each, but neither took home a win. Kanye didn't even bother to show up. He announced if the RecAc didn't nominate Frank Ocean or his album Blonde then he'd pass on the ceremony. Plus the Pablo rapper reportedly feels like the Grammys don't represent young, black artists.

However, Rihanna did decide to make her way to the Staples Center on Sunday. The Barbados beauty was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo / Group Performance for “Work,” Best Rap/Sung Collaboration on West’s “Famous,” “Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Recording Package for ANTi, Best R&B Song for “Kiss It Better” and Best R&B Performance for “Needed Me.” The latter is her longest charting career hit ever. Unfortunately, Rih's presence was limited to shots of her and her bestie unapologetically chugging swigs out of a bedazzled flask. It's the first time any artist has received that amount of nominations and not won a single category.
From Hits Daily Double:

Kanye West and Rihanna were shut out, despite eight nominations each. That set a new Grammy record for the noms in one night without a win. Both artists have won big in the past. West has won 21 Grammys; Rihanna has won eight.

ANTi and Rihanna definitely deserved a win, and as the years pass it's becoming abundantly clear the Grammys are becoming a thing of the past. Cheers to the freakin' weekend, then.
