There's a rumor claiming otherwise.
Lady Gaga's Las Vegas residency is not in jeopardy.
The pop star was forced to cancel the duration of her Joanne World Tour due to chronic pain from complications with fibromyalgia.
“I’m so devastated I don’t know how to describe it,” she wrote in a note to Little Monsters on Instagram. “All I know is that if I don’t do this, I am not standing by the words or meaning of my music. My medical team is supporting the decision for me to recover at home.”
Gaga revealed her struggle with chronic pain last year in her candid documentary, Five Foot Two, and despite ongoing treatment, it took its toll.
“I love this show more than anything, and I love you, but this is beyond my control," she added. "I promise I will be back in your city, but for now, I need to put myself and my well-being first.”
The pop star hopped on social media today to connect with fans – she posted three different photos that spelled out the words "I miss u" using red-pink tulips. The comments section flooded with responses of the tulip emoji.
There was a pesky rumor floating around that Gaga is cancelling her Vegas residency. It originated from a fan account on Twitter with no source and has already been deleted (see below). BreatheHeavy reached out to The Park Theater for comment. Unfortunately, they could not confirm or deny because they "don’t comment on rumors or speculation," but the Las Vegas Review Journal offered some invaluable insight.
They report: "officials are not concerned about her capacity to meet the demands of an extended run on the Strip," adding that "the feeling is a series of sit-down dates is healthier than a world tour."
It's also worth mentioning Gaga will likely include a jazz standard or two that will certainly temper the pace.
Meaning, the show must go on!
According to The Sun, the decision to cancel the tour was discussed for an entire week beforehand. They wanted to fulfill their obligation to film the tour for DVD. "After it became apparent that Gaga’s health was failing, her team organised crisis talks." Read more bout that here.
Get well soon, Gaga!
