Political Activist Artist NEO 10Y Imagines An Eerie Post-Internet Era In “Wild West”: Premiere

Anonymous artist NEO 10Y interlaces activism with music, and it's causing a commotion.

Considering the volatile digital age we're living in, that's what the world needs right now. NEO 10Y's experimental artistic expression in his new song "Wild West" is a product of the chaos that ensues from a dependence on the world-wide web. He imagines a "dystopian post apocalyptic reality when the internet is turned off," a concept one-fourth of the world's population has never experienced.

"'Wild West' is about addiction to technology and how [we] almost need to learn to live in 3D again, as humans," he tells BreatheHeavy.com.

"A lot of my lyricism is inspired by conspiracy theories, my brain sometimes feels like an episode of Black Mirror; 'Wild West' is definitely a product of that... It's a commentary on the state of the Western world and the privilege we have to hide behind technology to avoid human engagement. It's personal as much as it is philosophical."

Earlier this month, NEO 10Y made waves for his three-part film that centers on “killing” Trump from the public consciousness titled NEO 10Y v. NIHIL: The Kid That Killed Trump. It resulted in threatening letters and a report to the FBI for sedition, which he admitted was "scary and weird," so for his protection his face is masked. "It allows me to express myself politically in ways I wouldn't have been able to. I also wanted the artistry to speak for itself; art not ego."

The takeaway? "Trade in your luxuries and check your privilege; otherwise we will end up in an inevitable civil war of subsets."

"Wild West" lyrics:

Poetic license and a narrative or three
Genius enhancement living underground for me
No one in LA walks except a vagabond
When they turn off the box, you'll tell me it was wrong

Aux enfants de la chance (To the fortunate/lucky kids)
Your future's in the wild Wild West
Et tu neglige ma réponse (and you neglect my reply)
Magnetic in the wild Wild West
Chui tranquil mais je danse (I'm quiet but I dance)
Cinematic in the wild wild wild Wild West

Don't turn us off
Don't lock us down
We cannot fly
or go get high
Don't lose your fi-ight
The day the net dies.

Welcome delusions of society forlorn
Trading Tom Ford and Dior for a uniform
Your GPA, it don't matter anymore
You fucked it up with your regressive stance on war

Aux enfants de la chance (To the fortunate/lucky kids)
Your future's in the wild Wild West
Et tu neglige ma réponse
Magnetic in the wild Wild West
Chui tranquil mais je danse
Cinematic in the wild Wild West

Don't turn us off
Don't lock us down
We cannot fly
or go get high
Don't lose your fi-ight
The day the net dies

To fight the Lies
your human side
Bitter old men
circumvent pride
Don't lose your fi-ight
The day the net dies

Folk songs to feel like you are blue
Torn vocal chords
And silence too...
