One Direction: Zayn To Attend Asian Awards; Louis To Judge X Factor?

Zayn Malik is confirmed to be attending The Asian Awards on 17th April, while bookies eye Louis Tomlinson as the latest performer to serve as an X Factor judge.

After the controversial leaking of a solo demo track, and with his former band currently on a two month break from their world tour, Zayn’s attendance will be the first time the 22-year-old has participated in a public event since quitting One Direction.

The awards show official twitter account confirmed the singer’s upcoming appearance:

The awards ceremony seeks to highlight achievements made within the worldwide Asian community. Malik is British Pakistani and, obviously, one of the highest achieving young artists in the world. Zayn also attended the awards show last year.

Malik has maintained radio silence across all social media since leaving One Direction in favor of a normal(ish) life, but he has briefly surfaced in public a few times since. Once for an awkward interview with The Sun, a day later he was spotted heading to a recording studio with controversial producer/1D fanbase antagonizer Naughty Boy, and Zayn also showed up on fiance/Little Mix star Perrie Edwards Instagram account, in some cute couple pics of their vacation in France.

As for the rest of One Direction, Louis Tomlinson is currently rumored to be the next celebrity judge on UK X Factor now that Louis Walsh is leaving. Xtra Factor host Sinitta revealed Tomlinson has already worked behind the scenes on a recent season of the reality show that made him famous.

“He spent a lot of time with us last year, mentoring the talent and watching rehearsals…I could definitely see him going into music management and production so it’s a good place to start.”

It makes sense, considering Louis is credited with discovering fellow boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer. Thanks to the company Louis and fellow bandmate Liam Payne direct, all five members of One Direction hold a financial investment in the Australian band, too. So obviously, he knows a thing or two about how to spot talent and turn it into success!

Tomlinson is also currently involved in auditions being held in the UK for a new talent show called Be In The Band, which is hoping to create the next big girlband.

Further proving 1D are incapable of taking a proper break, somewhere in all this “downtime”, the band confirmed they will eventually begin writing for their 5th album, and first without Zayn, due in late 2015:

All work, no play is apparently the 1D way (even if you’re no longer in the band!)
