#NipplesAreHard: Tove Lo’s ‘70s-Infused New Single “Disco Tits” Is A Hit

Tove Lo bares it all on new song "Disco Tits."

The second chapter in Tove Lo’s Lady Wood era is called “Fire Fade.” Last month, the indie-pop singer dropped a reflective, 21-minute video with director Tim Eren to promote it. The mini movie served as a sequel to the NSFW part I, “Fairy Dust,” which explored themes of drugs, sex and violence. “Fire Fade” features more introspection and self-soothing. What it didn't include is any of the second installment’s new music. She was holding out on us, but today that all changes with her perky new tune, “Disco Tits.” The track actually leaked last week after it mysteriously surfaced onto Spotify for a short while before getting pulled, but the stream below is good to go.

The track title alone is epic, but the song is quite incredible. In it, Tove Lo escapes into a euphoric high that sends chills down her spine, errr... tits. "I'm sweatin' from head to toe," she sings over a '70s-inspired beat and plunky synths. "I'm wet through all my clothes / I'm fully charged / Nipples are hard / Ready to go." She also spits her signature line, "High as f--k."

It'll be interesting to see how radio handles releasing the track, but hopefully the iconic name doesn't get in the way. The song deserves to be dealt to the masses.

Tove Lo premiered the track on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. Where did the title come from? “It’s exactly what it is,” she said, adding there’s been mixed reviews.

“It’s a song about losing control and being this very passionate, just run free kind of thing with your partner in crime,” Tove Lo explains. “It’s me being sexually blunt and just raw like that.”

As for the single cover art? “It’s a sexual photo. There were tons of photos were I looked great,” she says, “but that face when it’s that intense, in that moment, isn’t always flattering or beautiful on anyone.” Listen to the full interview below:
