"Flustered," understatement of the year.
We're several weeks into 2017, and the opinions on Mariah Carey's disastrous performance on New Year's Eve continue to make headlines. The latest noteworthy mention comes from ex-husband Nick Cannon, who is the father to their two children Moroccan & Monroe.
During his appearance on Ellen, Cannon came to Carey's defense.
“Anyone who knows about performing... things like that can go wrong on live television,” he said. “I do live television all the time; I screw up on America’s Got Talent all the time, so when there are people in your ear saying things and stuff, I think she got a little flustered. But being the diva she is, she said, ‘I’m just going to walk around and pose for seven minutes.’ And like Ryan Seacrest said, she can do no wrong. So she worked through it.”
Carey's other ex-husband, Tommy Mottola, is urging the singer to clean house. “My only advice is that she should hire more seasoned and respected professionals to surround her and help her with her career," he said.
Ed Sheeran also came to Mimi's defense. "I feel like that could happen to anyone. That’s happened to me before when the in-ears just didn’t work,” he said. "She’s in the middle of Times Square with no monitors. It’s really difficult. You can’t sing in time for that... I know people are watching that and poking fun at her, but that’s a really, really horrible situation to be in. You’re just there, powerless.”
Time to move on now.
