Britney Spears --She's not as sexy as she looks. In fact, there's a whole side of Brit Brit that you hardly see on TV. By Jordi Bryson.
Fifty percent sugar and fifty percent spice, this girl will secretly get a tattoo, or will secretly get married, but you won't even know it...until the next day
"Some of my personal problems are blown out of proportion most of the time,
but when you are a public figure, you need to learn how to deal with it, and
I've been trying to do so ever since I first started doing what I love to do,
which is perform" - She says.
When Britney shows up for our lunch, her good girl/bad girl personality is right out there. Her fingernails are immaculately manicured in pink, she's wearing a girly Mary Janes but then plops down like a bit of a tom-boy, with one foot propped up on a nearby bench.
We're at a trendy L.A restaurant, and Mrs. Spears takes one look at the busboy and says, "Only in L.A. do busboys wear Christian Dior sunglasses." And just when we're thinking that Britney always calls it as she sees it, the food comes and even though her tuna melt looks totally disgusting, she does not say a word. She just starts eating.
"I never send food back", she says. "I'm too embarrassed." And you think you've got her number---surprise!
Britney hates to make anyone feel bad. She even says that the reason she keeps her hair colored is to make her family happy.
"People come up to me and say, 'Your style is just awesome", she says. " If I can give someone a smile like that, just with my style or whatever, I think that's a worthy day."
Speaking of which, Britney's caught a lot of flak lately for her infamous looks--and even for her weight, but she doesn't give you a you-know-what about what critics say.
"They don't hurt me, but they can write hurtful things, I know I'm contradicting myself, but those people just don't know me, so I don't care what they say. If they knew me--if my friends were saying those things--it would hurt my feelings, but if you don't even know these people, how can they even judge you?
It doesn't make any sense, how much do they get for saying that you're fat or ugly-looking?"
Britney says she wouldn't change a thing about her appearance, despite the comments.
"Because then I wouldn't be who I am" she says. "You are what you are, you know? I don't look in the mirror and say, 'Oh, I'm the most beautiful girl in the world. Look at me'. I see my imperfections, I do see my flaws, I just don't care, I walk out of my house in my pajamas, with no makeup on, and I just don't care, because that's how I feel more comfortable, if you want me to wear a fancy dress to go to Starbucks, then you are completely wrong".
Pop Beauty also finished last year, by giving her fans a piece of her new material.
"Recording an album is a lot of work and a lot of stress, you're in the studio constantly and you work really really hard, so sometimes you sort of get fed up because you can not get this or that part right, and there are so many different things and they have to be so critically done, so I just decided to take a little break from all of that, and focus more on my personal life" she says. "Man, I just think I deserved it. I still wanted to give you something extra though, but you know, it's also a lot of fun because most of the time, and since dance tracks are my forte, I think that you can always put your own flavor in it, so this time, I wanted to make something different, and that's how 'Mona Lisa' came out.
As we go deeper, she gets a little more personal by saying "Usually, I try to write and sing about stuff that I really relate to and different kind of things that are happening to me at the moment, you know, so I feel like my fans get me through my music, and of course, it's a big gratification to have your fans supporting you and singing your music and those lyrics back to you, it's a really nice feeling"-- She says. "With Mona Lisa, I just feel so attached to it, and it's basically about me and the way the media seems to be showing and
handling things of my own personal life lately, and it really pisses me off, so it's about you know these different lives that I feel like I need, you know, I can't be Britney Spears the star 24/7. So there's the Britney that my friends and family know about, and there's the Britney that my fans know, and of course the one everyone seems to think that they know but at the end of the day, they are far away from the truth.
Before you start worrying that Britney might be on the verge of getting even a little bit more outspoken about her personal experiences, she changes the subject by saying
"I feel like I'm more into my own skin now as a woman, and as someone else's wife, so writing about some of the stuff that I've had this year and that I've been going through is something that I wanted to do since I started getting involved into the whole producing process.
-- She says.
But at the same time, Britney feels like her own originality has always come by herself.
"I've never really wanted to sound like certain artist at all, I've always had my own style and my own taste in music, but of course, I'm a big Madonna fan, and I just love Janis Joplin as well, Norah Jones, Alanis Morrisette, they're all so good, but I dont think that I've found some inspiration in them, I just try to be myself".
Being on TV ever since she was a teenager has, of course, changed Britney's life." I've learned to see things from my own perspective, and obviously, you learn as go alone, and learn of the mistakes you've made, but ultimately, that's what makes you who you are as a person, so I think that believing in yourself is what gives you the strength to go through things that you never thought you were able to, but you do them, and then you feel just great, hopefully my fans keep that in mind, because that is what has helped me the most."
WEBMASTERS NOTE: I don't know if this is real. I noticed a lot of spelling errors and quotation mistakes, so I went ahead and fixed them (the ones I quickly saw.) I guess we'll know in the future if this is true, but for now just think of it as a rumor article.
