In an interview to the Associated Press, Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, claims MTV would graciously give Britney a second chance to perform at the 2008 Video Music Awards. Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?" Toffler said. When asked if he was just joking, Toffler said "sorta. Who knows?" Oh how nice of them...
According to Nielsen Media Research, last year's VMAs, held at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas, drew in only 7.1 million viewers - a noticeable decline in the last few years. Meaning they need Britney for a ratings boost.
"I'm not sure how we top Britney opening the show," said Toffler. "We are working on it every minute of every day."
This year's MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sept. 7.
I am so glad MTV wants to give Britney a second chance. Gag. Sounds like MTV needs Britney more than Britney needs MTV. Brit is full of surprises - but don't hold your breath (heavy). I wouldn't object to a quick red carpet appearance if Britney wanted to get all dolled up and go. OH and maybe this year they can actually give the girl a damn moon-man!
