MØ’s Video For “Nights With You” Is A Celebration Of Unity

MØ is unapologetically herself in the "Nights With You" music video.

By the books, MØ has one of the most-heard voices on the planet since the surge in streaming. Her collaboration with Major Lazer and DJ Snake on "Lean On" was the most streamed song on Spotify in 2015, but the Danish singer has had trouble finding her footing to stay put at those stratospheric heights. Regardless of where she falls on the streaming spectrum, MØ has put forth a string of legitimately good songs since, including the Snakehips collab "Don't Leave," “Drum,” “Final Song,” “Goodbye” and most recently, “Cold Water” with Major Lazer and Justin Bieber. Lucky for us, MØ has another hit on her hands with the Sophie, Benny Blanco & Cashmere Cat-produced "Nights With You." The song gets a video (out today) embracing love and unity.

“‘Nights With You’ was written for my best (and oldest) friend, and the song is a celebration of our friendship and of my love for her,” MØ said in a statement. “I obviously wanted the video to be about friendship but I wanted it to communicate this in a wide and universal way. I wanted it to be a reflection on unity in both bright times and in dark—about standing together strong and shining the light across borders and generations." She does this with two male dancers entangled in a passionate dance with one another.

She adds: “it probably sounds like a mouthful, but that was what was going through my mind when we started making this video. I wanted the setting to be an odd beautiful realness…an alternate reality, which is where we all seem to live these days.”
