Normally when we think of Miley Cyrus, there's a lot of hippie-chic, psychedelic imagery backed by twerking, tongues and nipples. Her tribute performance of Paul Simon's "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" had us thinking anything but that.
The refreshing cover stripped Miley of her notorious image for a moment, giving audiences larger than the Smilerz a chance to see WHO she is as an artist again versus the in-your-face drama queen we're subjected to via Instagram. It's a reminder that she's more than a headline on the cover of a magazine or pop music blog; she's a singer, an artist, not bound by the tight restrictions of typical pop music. She's diverse in what she sings and how she sings it, signs of a musician with real staying power.
