Cyrus was honored with the award for her work with the Happy Hippie Foundation.
Miley Cyrus licked a piano... for a good cause.
Miley Cyrus received the Vanguard award at the 46th Anniversary Gala Vanguard Awards hosted by the Los Angeles LGBT Center at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza on Saturday for her contribution towards equality in the LGBT community with her Happy Hippie Foundation which helps gay homeless youth.
Cyrus and songwriter Linda Perry auctioned off a piano, which Miley licked, for $50,000 and featured signatures from some of the superstar musicians she's worked with over the years, including Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, Adam Lambert and Gwen Stefani.
The "Milky Milky Milky" singer was not only honored for helping raise money for charity, but praised by the LGBT Center for pushing "boundaries in ways that few have had the courage to do."
Cyrus gave a lengthy speech about being human-beings and ridding ourselves of labels.
"I want all of you to know that I feel beyond grateful to be in a room full of so many people who care so much about others because, unfortunately, that is way too rare in the world that we live in today," Cyrus said in her acceptance speech. "I'm thinking of tonight not as celebrating what we've already done, but what we're doing and what we're going to do in the future."
