UPDATE: Listen to a bit of the new song in the film's preview:
Miley Cyrus' new "Hands Of Love" song was written by Linda Perry(!!!)
Just weeks after announcing a surprise (and free) album at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus is ready to drop a new song for a rather important issue. On Saturday (September 12), the craziest gal in pop took to Instagram to announce that she'll sing a tune for the upcoming Feeheld film.
The movie, which stars Julianne Moore and Ellen Page as real-life couple Laurel Hester and Stacie Andree, will focus on the pair's demand for pension benefits for same-sex domestic partnerships. If you aren't familiar with their story, let us catch you up to date. Laurel (a police office) and Stacie had been together for six years when Laurel was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in 2005. She (repeatedly) appealed to her Ocean County's elected officials to make sure her pension benefits could be passed along to her partner, but was denied for over a year.
We all know how important LGBT issues are to Miley, so it's nice to see her combine her roots with these sort of strides. Since Freeheld hits theaters on October 2, you can probably expect that song to drop sooner rather than later.
Take a look at a photo of when we think she worked on the song earlier this summer and Miley's announcement below!
