Miley Cyrus hasn't a care in the world in her beachy visual for "Malibu."
The world is in a weird place right now. Miley, a vocal advocate for all things equal and fair in the world, is giving us a piece of music to escape into, and it has a video to match. Her new tune is titled "Malibu," a tender acoustic mid-tempo that's littered with warm hooks and sun-soaked spirit.
“I never came to the beach and stood by the ocean,” she sings over a refreshing guitar melody and a mild beat. “I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand but you brought me here / And I’m happy that you did cause now I’m as free as birds catching the wind.”
"Malibu" sounds like more of the songs Miley pays tribute to in backyard performances than anything she's ever personally released. You'd never find this on Bangerz or Dead Petz, and that's understandable. It's because the pop star is in the best place spiritually and mentally that she has ever been in. Running through the meadow, frolicking on the beach, clutching a bouquet of balloons – this is Miley's happy place, and there's no going back.
