Michelle Branch hasn't released an album in nearly 15 years, but that's all about to change. The singer-songwriter is gearing up to share her intimate new record titled Hopeless Romantic, a body of work inspired by her divorce from Teddy Landau and by her new relationship with the Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, who also co-wrote and produced the album, EW reports.
Today (Feb. 16), Branch is sharing a moody visual for the album title track. “The song is about the push and pull of a romantic relationship,” she says. “There’s always a kind of fear when you’re entering a relationship with someone; of, ‘Where will this go? Will I get hurt?'”
"Hopeless Romantic" only scratches the surface. “The album runs the gamut from break-up songs to tracks about finding love. So it seemed like the perfect (album) title from the moment we recorded it. That’s been the story-arc of the last three years of my life.” She adds, with a laugh, “And I am a hopeless romantic!”
In the video, which she describes as "darker," Branch is seen driving through the night and standing in the rain.
