"You might have a mom. She might be the bomb."
Those are the opening lyrics to Meghan Trainor's new song "Mom" off her upcoming album Thank You out May 13. The airy tune arrives just in time for Mother's Day.
The tune bops along to a casual clap-beat interlaced with doo-wops and features a candid(?) phone conversation between Trainor and her mom Kelli Trainor.
Meghan: I just wanted to call and tell you I love you.
Mom: Awe, I love you too.
Meghan: I miss you already
Mom: That's so sweet. What's going on?
Meghan: I'm just writing songs... my "Mom" song.
The track is unapologetically mushy, but feels out of place next to "No" and her collaborations with LunchMoney Lewis and Yo Gotti; it needs to live solely in the credits of a G-rated Disney film. By far, "Mom" is the most underwhelming Thank You track we've heard thus far.
