Ed Sheeran has teamed up with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix for a surprisingly successful EDM collaboration.
Everyone's favorite acoustic pop star, Ed Sheeran, is taking his first steps into dance music with a Disclosure remix of current single "Bloodstream" and now a featured role on Martin Garrix' (best known for UK #1 "Animals") new track, "Rewind, Repeat It".
Garrix debuted the cut at this weekend's Ultra Music Festival, the result of which you can hear above. The track itself is typical of Martin's signature style and EDM in general right now, featuring an impressive build, house inspired drums and synths galore. Despite Sheeran not having experimented with the genre before, his voice lends itself particularly well to the instrumental and he pulls the whole thing off far better than people may have anticipated when he teased the track last year.
There's no word yet on whether the song is a single from Garrix' forthcoming debut album, which follows his 2014 EP 'Gold Skies', but "Rewind, Repeat It" feels like it has the makings of another big hit for Garrix - especially given that everything Sheeran touches at the moment turns to gold.
What do you think of Martin and Ed's "Rewind, Repeat It"?
