UPDATE // SEPTEMBER 29: Mariah Carey makes her cameo as “Kitty” on the next episode of Empire, so to gear up for the momentous occasion, Carey released her duet with co-star Jussie Smollett titled “Infamous.”

In the song which premiered on EW, the two weave in and out of each other’s warm expressions, uniting for parts, and shining alone elsewhere.

“I said you mean the world to me,” Carey sings. “Say what you are is infamous. It’s such a rush reality. I’m so into you. I know it’s dangerous, but I believe a greater love there’ll never be.”

Fans caught a brief glimpse of Mariah Carey’s cameo on the upcoming season of Empire last month. “You’ve always got a trick up your sleeve,” she said, and indeed she does. The elusive chanteuse recently revealed she’s working on new music, and one of the cuts includes a track for the show.

According to Empire star Jussie Smollett, he and Carey are releasing a duet together on Sep. 30 titled “Infamous.” Smollett said:

“September 30th get the song ‘Infamous’ with me and the most successful female artist of all time and one of the greatest vocalists of all time: Mariah Carey.”
