Now we know why 'Mean Girls' is Mariah's favorite movie.
You know know how the story goes... years ago a reporter asked Mariah about Jennifer Lopez, to which she responded. "I don't know her." Internet history was made.
Not only is it digital gold, but it's constantly brought up. During a visit to the Wendy Williams Show earlier this year, JLo recalled seeing several Vegas shows before launching her All I Have residency, but admitted she didn't get around to Mariah's because Mimi wasn't performing that week. Williams interrupted JLo with a "WHO," referencing the iconic moment.
"She does say that, she's forgetful I guess," JLo responded. "We've met many times. I don't know, ummm I don't know her that well."
JLo was also asked about Mariah during her semi-recent trip to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, who brings up the moment she was caught texting during Mariah's performance at the Billboard Music Awards last year. “First of all, that was not fair with the texting thing, because I watched a lot — it was a long performance!” she says. “I watched most of it. I may have looked down for one second, and people were like ‘Look at her! Look at her!'”
JLo's quotes got back to Mariah, who casually said "I still don't know her" when asked her thoughts on people continuing to use the reference.
Then, an Internet prankster edited a Tweet using Mariah Carey and JLo's official Twitter handles that centered around the terrorist attacks in Brussels several weeks ago, and while the Internet unfortunately got a chuckle out of it, Lopez was not laughing. She took a moment to clear the air, saying "Someone copied my acct &wrote something nasty about another artist," she Tweeted her 35 million followers. "I would never lower myself like that #fake #smallminded #noclass #notme"
And the saga doesn't end there.
During Mariah's latest stop on the Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, the "Infinity" singer posed with a fan who held a sign "still don't know her." It's clear she's in on the prank, because she's holding her arms up like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
