As she approaches her September due date, Britney Spears is ditching the Chaotic life and preparing for a new role: stay-at-home mom. "Britney has always been a homebody at heart," says a source close to the 23-year-old pop princess. "Staying at home to look after the baby," adds the source, "is the most important thing in her life right now."

Although Britney's rep says that she "can do it all and not give up anything," Mrs.Federline has been spending a lot of time with Kevin at the L.A studio where he's recording his first album. "Britney's determined for Kevin to get out there and get on with his career," says a source. "He's a man who likes to wear the pants in the family, and this will be his big chance."

Britney used to complain about Kevin's slacking off, but now she couldn't be more supportive. "Britney truly wants Kevin to be a big success," the source says. "She is more than happy to take a backseat to him."

Just this week, while Kevin, 27, was recording, Britney kept busy by shopping for the nursery, which she's decorating in soft greens and yellows with help from West Hollywood's Petit Tresor baby boutique. "She's really excited about the baby and looking forward to having the room come together," says Petit Tresor co-owner Nina Rioja, who is impressed with her celebrity client's simple, elegant style. "Britney has been very spiritual about it, and it's reflected in her design," Rioja told Life & Style.

It wasn't all that long ago that Britney Spears was dreaming of marrying her prince and starting a family. But now that she's living her fairy tale, the eight-months-pregnant pop star is finding her life is a bit more of a struggle.
Although her doctor "keeps telling her she shouldn't worry," says a friend, Britney has been unnerved about her pregnancy ever since she made an emergency hospital visit when she was four months pregnant. At the time, she and her husband, Kevin Federline, were at their vacation home in Destin,Fla.,when Britney, 23, began experiencing excessive bleeding. Worried that she might be miscarrying, she and Kevin raced to a nearby emergency room. Britney spent two nights in the hospital until she was assured that all was well.
That frightening episode propelled Britney not to take any chances. She's hired a team of top-notch nurses to be at her side at a moment's notice. "The nurses are on call 24 hours a day," says another friend. Plus, as time goes by, she gets more nervous about the pain and risk of childbirth.
On top of her worries, Britney has found it difficult to deal with the discomforts of pregnancy. "She's having a tough time," reveals the insider. "She's finally stopped throwing up but still can't get a decent night's sleep." Daytime doesn't bring much relief, either, as her swelling belly has added up to constant back and leg pains. "Britney says she can't move easily," notes another close friend. "She's feeling a lot of pressure, and she's finding it really difficult to walk."

To help settle her nerves and get through this painful waiting period, Britney has dedicate herself to fixing up the baby nursery, making sure it's perfect for her new arrival. And she's insisting that dad-to-be Kevin make plenty of practice runs to be sure that they get to the hospital in time for the delivery.
And when the big day comes, she'll no doubt look at her little bundle of joy and know - with all her heart - that it was all worth it.
