In true "Rebel Heart" form, Madonna's tentative single release plans might have leaked.
After (you can call her) M's entire studio album leaked way ahead of schedule, the pop queen was forced to initiate plan B and rush the lead single release for "Living For Love," quickly film its music video and rehearse a Grammy performance (the song was meant to debut on Feb. 14). Though it all turned out seemingly alright, Madonna must admit this era hasn't gone according to plan, and it appears her single release plans are no longer a secret.
Word on the street is Madonna wants "Devil Pray" and "Ghosttown" as the next singles off "Rebel Heart," enlisting the help from director Jonas Åkerlund (Britney Spears "Hold It Against Me," Madonna "Ray Of Light") to film the "Ghosttown" music video.
I must say I'm extremely optimistic about the future of Madonna's latest body of work. She could easily opt for the radio-friendly "Unapologetic Bitch" or "Bitch I'm Madonna" featuring Nicki Minaj, or play up "Illuminati" with a vid filled with not-so hidden messages, triangles and eyes, but she isn't. She's returning to her roots with mid-tempo, rich songs about love. And with her recent campaign and rants about love, it's only appropriate she keeps the club bangers on the back burner.
I'd personally love "Iconic" and "Hold Tight" to see single status before her "Rebel Heart" era concludes.
