Madonna paid tribute to the late David Bowie in concert last night.
In the two days since David Bowie's death, he's received and outpouring of tributes from his follow musicians, but Madonna is one of the first artists to eulogize the man behind Ziggy Stardust in performance.
Taking to the stage in Houston, Texas last night, the "Living for Love" star told the audience that she wanted "to pay tribute to a man who inspired [her] career" before launching into an energetic performance of Bowie's 1974 hit, "Rebel Rebel".
The performance featured an impromptu costume change from the Material Girl and classic images of Bowie projected onto the screens behind her.
Madonna said of Bowie:
"He was one of the geniuses in the music industry. One of the greatest singer-songwriters of the 20th century and he changed my life when I went to see him in concert in Detroit. He showed me that it was alright to be different. And he's the first rebel heart that I laid eyes on."
