Lorde doesn't want to rely on anyone to help craft her next studio album.
Lorde is a one woman show.
The singer got some serious confidence in her skills this week when she became the only woman nominated for Album of the Year at the 2018 Grammys. Melodrama will compete against Jay-Z’s 4:44, Gambino’s Awaken, My Love!, Lamar’s Damn. and Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic.
That's an incredible feat, and she's already figuring out how to top it. In a new interview with Beats 1, Lorde says she plans on making her next record all by herself (aside from the mastering, cause meh).
“In the next 5 years I want to entirely do a record, everything. Write it completely myself, produce it myself.” She adds that's the goal, anyhow.

Melodrama is a masterpiece, in part thanks to the talents of Jack Antonoff. It'll be interesting if she can capture lightning in a bottle without him. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to figure out what to eat for dinner.
