Lorde Says Florence + The Machine Inspired “Green Light,” Shares The Demo

If you're still jamming out to Lorde's new single "Green Light," thank Florence + The Machine.

The Kiwi opened up on the first episode of the Rookie podcast hosted by Tavi Gevinson about the making of her album Melodrama, the fragility in her songwriting and how F+M influenced the piano-driven bridge on "Green Light."

She and Jack Antonoff, who collaborated with Lorde on much of the LP, found inspiration at one of their shows. “Her player did this big, kind of jangly movement with her hands on the piano, and it was literally the physicality of that movement that became the way Jack played that,” Lorde said. Listen to the interview below, plus the demo of the song (at 26:39).
