Sources claim that Lorde has split from her long-time manager Scott Maclachlan.
It's being widely reported that in the process of working on her sophomore album, Kiwi superstar Lorde has parted ways with the man who discovered her at 13 years old, current manager Scott Maclachlan.
According to the New Zealand Herald, the two ended their professional relationship "around a month ago" for unknown reasons. Neither camp have confirmed or denied the claim, but Lorde's photo has been removed from Saiko Management's website - Scott Maclachlan's company.
We'll keep an eye on the story as it develops, but this is unlikely to be a good move for the teenage superstar. Although Lorde's raw talent and the guiding hand of Joel Little (who produced and co-wrote her entire debut album) may be more responsible for the "Royals" star's initial success, it feels a little early in her career to be biting the hand that feeds her. Moreover, Lorde has enjoyed an unprecedented level of creative and musical freedom for such a young artist, so what exactly she's freeing herself from by walking away from her manager is unclear.
Lorde's follow-up to 2013's 'Pure Heroine' is due later this year.
