Jack Ü & Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now” sees a cover from up-and-comer Leah Culver.
One of our favorite songs this summer is the Skrillex & Diplo’s mad lovechild “Where Are Ü Now,” and it’s not just us. The song hit the Top 10 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart and was only one of two songs featured in the top 10 without an accompanying music video, as well as recently landing in the top 40 on the Radio Songs chart. Leah Culver, previously known as MK Ultra, reworks the song with her breathy vocals and alternate background production that doesn’t attempt to re-create the classic, which we like. Instead, she provides a fresh take to it. She tells BreatheHeavy.com:
“Jack Ü’s ‘Where Are Ü Now’ really hit home for me when I initially heard it. I can see my past reflected in the lyrics, having experienced relationships and friendships that fell though after giving them my all. This rendition has a vibe of its own, infused with my own emotions and energy.”
Despite sounding a bit like Ellie Goulding here, it’s an original re-do of one of the best summer songs thus far. Stream it below (then download a free copy here):
