Lana Del Rey is the latest pop star to face a barrage of song leaks, including demos for "BBM Baby," "Other Woman" & "Girl That Got Away."
The Israeli hacker who leaked Madonna's entire Rebel Heart album before its official debut might have it out for Lana Del Rey, because the Honeymoon singer is dealing with some of her five-year-old unfinished recordings surfacing onto the net. Following demos for “Super Movie,” “Queen Of Disaster,” and “Serial Killer” is the latest round of songs to make their way onto the net. They include the bubbly synth-pop track "BBM Baby," "Other Woman" (a different version from the dreamy ballad featured on 2014's Ultraviolence) and "Girl That Got Away."
"BBM Baby" is probably the quirkiest demo of the three. Produced by Penguin Prison, the song is about Lana's love for the pre-historic Black Berry Messenger phone. “Be my BBM baby," she sings. "I don’t want to fight, you’re the one I like.”
Five years ago, Penguin Prison explained to Filter how the song came to be. "Well the studio as in my home studio," he said. "She came over and we worked on a song a while ago. It was called BBM Baby, I guess it was about her Blackberry Messenger."
Listen to that plus the other two newly-surfaced demos below:
"Girl That Got Away"
