Lady Gaga shows us a new shade to her "Perfect Illusion."
Mother Monster traveled to Japan this week to continue the massive Joanne promotional tour, which included a haunting piano ballad performance of her album's lead single on Japanese television show Sukkiri.
There were moments of silence, but emotion filled the air. If Gaga pushed it any further, she quite possibly could have burst into tears.
"I used to always be afraid to show certain sides of my self," Gaga said afterward. "But with this music I cannot hide because I wrote it from the deepest parts of my soul. There's days where you're just with yourself and your thoughts, and you think to yourself: 'What am I really feeling, where is the pain exactly?' So every time I sing this song, it's different because I'm always trying to go to that place."
She went there, alright.
