Elton John says Lady Gaga's new record is "really, really fantastic."
One of the perks of being a world-renowned musician and friends with Lady Gaga? Getting to hear a bit of her forthcoming album before its debut next year. Lucky for Elton John, he's both, and admits recently having had a sneak peek of a few of the tracks recorded for "LG5."
During his Beats1 radio show on Apple Music, Elton introduces "Bad Romance" and recalls how perfect the song would be for Bruce Springsteen before dishing the dirt.
"We were all on stage together at the Rainforest concert in New York with Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and James Taylor," he said, "and Springsteen was saying 'God, I wish I had written that song.' You can hear Bruce actually singing 'Bad Romance,' its a real Springsteen-type song."
He continued (via GagaDaily): "She's a great friend of ours and she's a wonderful godmother to our two songs. She's in the process of writing her new album. I've heard some of it and it's absolutely fabulous. She's been doing really different things: she did The Sound of Music on the Oscars, she did a tour with Tony Bennett, and now she's on American Horror Story. So, she's been doing lots of different things but I can tell you, I've heard a couple of things from her new album and it's really, really fantastic."
Elton isn't the only musical legend to rave about her new tunes. Nile Rodgers, who's worked with Gaga on the new album since last year, posted an old photo of them together but with a caption that alludes to them recently reuniting in the studio. He said, "@ladygaga I love you - and you know why. Wow. You killed it." He also added on Twitter, "I LOVE Lady Gaga. She's a real artist, who brings her A Game all the time. "Art, that walks." A complete bad ass!"
Last year, Gaga said of the album "I want the fans to be surprised," she says. "But I will just tell you that it's a wonderful, soul-searching experience. And it's very unlike the last album in that way. I made that album on the road. Artpop was, you know, the acid-making record. And this record is like—my old self as a cadaver. And I'm just, I'm operating on my old self."
