Lady Gaga Confirms New Song “Till It Happens to You”

Lady Gaga knows the painful feelings associated with a traumatic experience like rape. She admitted to Howard Stern last year she was raped by someone in the music industry.

"I went through some horrific things," Gaga said. "I'm able to laugh now because I've gone through a lot of mental, physical and emotional therapy to heal over the years."

She said she was a shell of her former self years later after reflecting.

“It happens every day and it’s really scary and sad,” Gaga continued. “It didn’t affect me as much right after as it did about four or five years later.” Her reason for not calling out her attacker? “I wasn’t even willing to admit that anything had even happened. I don’t want to be defined by it.”

"I wasn't even willing to admit that anything had even happened," Gaga continued. "I saw him one time in a store, and I was paralyzed by fear."

Kudos to Lady Gaga for taking a horrible experience and making light of it, helping others who struggle with a similar past to better cope and use music to do it. It takes a lot to put yourself out there on such a public platform and share a dark history, but she's helping others now and that is what music's all about.
