Lady Gaga and Azealia Banks collaborated on a demo together titled "Red Flame."
ARTPOP had the potential to feature a collaboration from Azealia (she wants to be called by her first-name only), but the slinky pop tune was left on the cutting room floor.
There's no concrete reason why "Red Flame" didn't land on Gaga's fourth studio album, but GagaDaily reports she mentioned the rapper had "a bad attitude."
"I wanna see you pump it," Gaga declares over an electro-tinged hip-hop beat. Her synthy-processed vocals melt over Azealia's fiery verse about enjoying the finer things. The "Big Big Beat" rapper even duets with Gaga halfway through.
In 2013 before ARTPOP was released, Banks lambasted Gaga for "stealing" the track, ”Make sure u let them know where u got the title for red flame from. U stole that from the demo I sent u,” she said on Twitter before deleting it. “You can have it. Plenty more where that came from. Seriously… This one is free. Next time I’m charging.” She also Tweeted “Team Katy.”
Regardless of the behind-the-scenes antics, the song is lit.
