This place about to blow.
Kesha is currently under contract with Sony Music and is barred from recording new material with anyone else aside from Dr. Luke or his companies while her case is pending. Her lawyers filed documents in October asking a judge for permission to record elsewhere.
It reads: "Kesha now faces an abysmal decision: Work with her alleged abuser…or idly and passively wait as her career tick-tocks away. Kesha’s window of opportunity is nearly shut: She has not been recording, touring or able to market merchandise for nearly a year — an eternity in the industry. If Kesha is not permitted to resume working immediately with the backing of a major record label, her window will forever close."
While Kesha's legal battle against Dr. Luke rages on, she figured out a way to return to the stage. The "We R Who We R" singer performed a surprise show over the holiday in Nashville, TN with her new band named Yeast Infection. In the intimate show for only a few hundred lucky attendees, Kesha performed trippy versions of her songs "Blow" and "Timber" (sans Pitbull) and covered Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”
She posted a video of her performance, saying "HAPPY HOLLERDAYZ from Y E A S T I N F E C T I O N!!! I love all of my ANIMALS!!! Thanks for all of the support this year!!!....Don't worry NO ONE will ever shut me up."
We applaud Kesha for pushing through and continuing to do what she loves, despite the major roadblock. Remember, a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
