This time Kelly is the boss bitch in charge.
Considering that groups like Little Mix and Fifth Harmony appear to be working (for now), former Destiny's Child sister Kelly Rowland has decided to try and add another female collective to the line-up and we're about to watch all the action unfold.
Earlier this week the first trailer for her upcoming BET docu-reality series called "Chasing Destiny" surfaced online, and it's a taste of the R&B star's quest to create the next big girl group along with DC choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. For their search, the twosome hosted a series of casting calls in markets like Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta to scout out talented hopefuls.
"I don't want reality stars. I want stars," Kelly says in the teaser video, before confessing that this journey is going to be more organic and less focused on the big ol' eliminations. Sounds like "Making The Band 3"-lite.
"We were going to do this whether TV cameras were with us or not. We were going to have our own cameras. But after talking to Stephen (BET president of programming Hill), he said he’d like to be a part of the show," she told Billboard back in December. "I was just happy that he saw how necessary a girl group is just as much as we do. Because there’s only only one out there now, Fifth Harmony."
"Chasing Destiny" is scheduled to premiere on April 5 at 10 p.m. EST.
