Kelly Clarkson dedicates her at-home performance of Foreigner’s 1984 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is” to the victims lost in Orlando.
Clarkson is hyping a big announcement slated for Friday by performing covers of classic songs Monday through Thursday until the big reveal. Fans suspect she's releasing a covers album, which is why she's choosing to cover fan-requested songs until then. The Piece By Piece singer is using Facebook Live to document the week-long experience, kicking things off yesterday (June 20) with a soaring rendition of Otis Redding’s 1967 hit “These Arms of Mine” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. “I’m excited to sing again,” she said. “Months ago I sounded like crap... This is the coolest announcement for me as an artist.”
On Tuesday, Clarkson returned with another frantic and nerve-wracking chat before finally addressing the issue at hand: the sudden and terrible loss in Orlando earlier this month.
“There’s not anything you can say…it’s the worst thing ever,” Kelly said. She began to get teary-eyed the more she discussed it. “It was such a horrifying thing that happened…the only thing we can do is love out of such a hateful situation.”
