Clarkson gave fans several treats at her L.A. show on Wednesday.
The announcement she’s expecting baby No. 2 might have outshined every other moment at her Piece By Piece performance at the Staples Center in L.A. last night (Aug. 19), but her cover of Demi Lovato’s “Cool For The Summer” should definitely be noted.
“It’s one of my girls’ birthdays tomorrow — when I say my girl, I mean Demi Lovato. It’s Demi’s birthday tomorrow,” Kelly concert-goers. “And she’s always been such a fan, she’s so supportive and so cool… she’s just killing it. I thought I would, for her birthday, sing her new single, ’Cool For The Summer.’”
Lovato caught wind of the tribute, Tweeting Clarkson: “WOW WOW WOW.. @kelly_clarkson thank you SO MUCH for covering #coolforthesummer at your show tonight!!! BEST BDAY GIFT EVER!! *literal tears*”

Perhaps the back and forth will prompt the long-awaited duet between the two. Last year, Lovato mentioned Clarkson was one of her dream collaborations, but due to circumstances it just didn’t work out… yet.
“We almost got to work together, but I was pregnant and she had asked me to sing. I totally was down, but it just didn’t work out,” Kelly explained this week to MTV News. “She was touring, I was super pregnant and not feeling well and it didn’t work out this time, but it totally will. … I love her; she’s so sweet. Every time we see each other, she’s always like, ’Kelly Clarkson, she’s so nice, and so awesome, we’re both Texans.’”
