Kelly Clarkson's covers campaign continues.
Clarkson has a big announcement aimed for Friday, so to promote the effort she's performing covers of classic songs Monday through Thursday until the big reveal. Fans suspect she's releasing a covers album, which is why she's choosing to cover fan-requested songs until then. The Piece By Piece singer is using Facebook Live to document the week-long experience, kicking things off on Monday (June 20) with a soaring rendition of Otis Redding’s 1967 hit “These Arms of Mine” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, then chose to sing Foreigner’s “I Want to Know What Love Is” on Tuesday.
Clarkson celebrated hump day with a ridiculously powerful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Something He Can Feel,” which isn't the first she's chosen to sing the legend's songs. As PopCrush points out, during Clarkson's run on American Idol, the Piece By Piece singer sang Franklin’s “Natural Woman,” “Respect” and “Don’t Play That Song”
“I didn’t know that so many people would care,” Clarkson said of her covers week. “So I really hope you think the announcement’s cool…I’m a little nervous.”
Clarkson answered a couple of questions following the at-home performance, including her favorite song to perform live ("Miss Independent"), favorite unreleased demo songs ("Lost" and "Hand Me Downs") and the most nerve-wracking thing she's ever had to do.
