Katy Perry's Witness followup is in the works.
It's no secret Katy's recent era didn't translate the way her others had, and she knows it. The pop star said she's about to undergo a soul overhaul, and is in the early stages of creating a new record. Capitol Records head honcho Steve Barnett says she wants to get back in the public's good graces. Read more about that here.
We don't know much about the new sound, but something is definitely in the works. Katy was recently spotted with "New Rules" producer, Ian Kirkpatrick, and has plans to collaborate with Steve Mac.
Mac is responsible for some seriously massive mainstream pop songs, including Ed Sheeran's "Shape Of You," P!nk's "What About Us," Rita Ora's "Your Song," and many more.
During an interview gabbing about his contributions on Liam Payne's forthcoming album (which he says is going to have "hit to hit to hit," but that's still up for debate), Mac says he's working with Perry soon.
"The opportunities at the moment are incredible," he said. "I never thought I’d be here in my career 27 years on."
Can Mac help Katy, errr... Katheryn with her initiative? "This last year has been about killing my ego, which has been really necessary for my career," Perry recently said, "but for my personal life, it doesn’t work that way. If I want to have that true balance, I have to step into being Katheryn Hudson." OK, probably not, but at least he'll help craft another hit. I miss seeing Katy at the top of the Hot 100.
