Justin Timberlake Shines On Nick*’s Summery “Girlfriend” Remix

JT and chill.

I bet you didn't wake up today expecting to jam out to a polished re-working of Justin Timberlake's *NSYNC's 2002 hit "Girlfriend" by remix artist Nick*, yet here you are. The remix is one of 10 new remixes from Nick* as part of his 2017 Summer series playlist. BreatheHeavy also covered his electro-tinged remix of Britney Spears' "Do You Wanna Come Over" – read more about that here.

"I’ve always been a fan of NSYNC’s 'Girlfriend,' so when I got the opportunity to get the solo version Justin recorded on his own, I was extra excited," Nick* tells BreatheHeavy.com. "The song sounds really strange when you start messing with the tempo, so I left it at the original and built around [JT's] vocals while keeping some of the original synths for the B sections and bridge. I drew inspiration from the minimalist nature of The Neptunes who did the original." He adds: "sometimes it’s more about the space between the sounds more than what each sound is doing while it’s active. Working everything back and forth gave some stuttering that helps punctuate Justin’s vocals."

It's definitely worth a listen. Check it out below:
