It was only a matter of time til' we heard Justin Bieber's new song "What Do You Mean."
Bieber's enlisted the help of dozens of famous faces to help promote his upcoming single, "What Do You Mean," officially out tomorrow (Aug. 28), but the lyric video (thus the entire song) landed online a bit early. The black and white video shows footage of pro-skater and pal Ryan Sheckler cruising the streets while hand-drawn stylized art and lyrics tick around.
After the major success from "Where Are Ü Now," Bieber collaborated with Skrillex again and crafted another delicious tune that's cool for the summer, but has mad potential to transform into a club banger as autumn transpires. The low-key drums sound tribal and slick, a foreign terrain for the 21-year-old.
Bieber said of the song during his visit on Ryan Seacrest's KISS FM show earlier this month, “Well, girls are often just flip-floppy. They say something and they mean something else. So … what do you mean? I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking.”
He adds, “I worked really hard on it with a guy named Poo Bear. It’s really uplifting, clear, poppy, but cool,” he revealed. “The sounds are super expensive. Skrillex is a genius. He’s super futuristic and I just love his sound. So to be able to incorporate that sound with what I’m doing has been super cool because it’s new and fresh. I feel like no one has done it before. I’m very excited.”
Bieber is set to perform the song at the VMA's on Sunday.
“I’ve been working a lot in the studio, just trying to have a consistent sound, a cohesive sound,” he continued. “I get in my head a lot and I get kind of depressed because I want it to work so badly. I want people to love it. I want to inspire people. Sometimes I wonder, ‘Is this good enough? Is this the direction I want to go?’
Definitely, Bieber. Definitely. Check it out:
