Justin Bieber will release his new single "What Do You Mean?" in 30 days.
During a sit-down interview on On-Air with Ryan Seacrest Wednesday morning, Bieber opened up about recording his new record and revealed the single, titled "What Do You Mean" because girls are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, is produced by Skrillex and drops Aug. 28.
“Well, girls are often just flip-floppy,” Justin explained (in a whisper) to Seacrest. “They say something and they mean something else. So … what do you mean? I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking.”
We won't hear the song for an entire month, but Bieber describes the track as "fun" and "summery." “Definitely the first single is amazing. I worked really hard on it with a guy named Poo Bear.” He adds, “It’s really uplifting, clear, poppy, but cool,” he revealed. “The sounds are super expensive. Skrillex is a genius. He’s super futuristic and I just love his sound. So to be able to incorporate that sound with what I’m doing has been super cool because it’s new and fresh. I feel like no one has done it before. I’m very excited.”
And it's taken the Biebs three years to get to this point.
“I’ve been working a lot in the studio, just trying to have a consistent sound, a cohesive sound,” he explained. “I get in my head a lot and I get kind of depressed because I want it to work so badly. I want people to love it. I want to inspire people. Sometimes I wonder, ‘Is this good enough? Is this the direction I want to go?’ I had kind of a rough week last week. I get in my head and I don’t want to get out of bed sometimes.”
Here's a preview of it that leaked from a party Bieber was at earlier in the month:
