Whoever burned Jessie J should run and take cover.
The singer dropped her new single "Think About That" today (Sep. 14). It's the lead single off her forthcoming EP titled R.O.S.E., which stands for Realisations, Obsessions, Sex and Empowerment. If you wondered where Jessie has been the last few years, this stunning new visual explains it all.
On "Think About That," Jessie fires off some blistering truths aimed at someone (or some label) who clearly wronged her.
“All you disturb is my work and my patience / Years of grinding, you took it, you broke it," she sings over a pulsating beat and a bag of R&B production tricks. "All cause you're faking / You wanna be famous / Say it, you wanna be famous / Using my jewels / You were thirsty as fuck / Always late, always faded."
As for the video? Jessie is tied up and bound by rope. In some scenes she’s delicate – gazing into the camera as white feathers trickle down from the sky. In others, she’s wearing a mask on her face and slithering around in fishnets. Just like the song, there’s a softness to it, but the lyrics go IN.
Jessie definitely has something to say more than "bang bang into the room" this era, and I'm here for it.
