Jessie J is back! Sort of...
Jessie J was itching to jump back into music following her stint as a judge on the UK's version of The Voice.
“I love doing the show,” Jessie said. “I’ve done four seasons – two in the UK and two in Sydney. But I just need to make another album.”
Key word: need.
“It’s really time-consuming, and if I’m honest with you," she added of the show. "I get to the point where I’m in the chair, and I just want to sing. ‘I want to tell you how to make it better, I want to coach you, but I want to make it a duet’… I’m ready to write another album.”
And here we are with a compromise of that – a hip-hop-inspired cover of Frankie Valli’s 1967 classic, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
There are countless covers of the song, but none quite like Jessie's, who's comfortable hopping between the soaring high notes and subdued mellow bits.
It coincides with her #iamanartist campaign for Make Up Forever, so it is essentially one giant commercial, and that's no bueno. But hey, it is the holiday season.
